Instead of watering down our schools to appease nonbelieving parents, our Catholic schools must plant the seeds for a brighter, more faithful future for the Church and for America.
As a former superintendent of Catholic schools in Boston, I've witnessed the tension between evangelizing through Catholic education and accommodating nonbelieving parents. Reading a Slate article about a parent unsettled by her child's growing faith reminded me why Catholic schools must stay unapologetically Catholic.
