The Church is in need of faithful witnesses.
The Saint Thomas More Teaching Fellowship exists to revitalize Catholic education by identifying, training, and forming young adults to serve as teachers in Catholic schools.
Fellows become not only stewards of knowledge but missionary disciples—teaching, mentoring, and witnessing to Christ in the classroom, the faculty room, and beyond

Start with a five-week New Teacher Academy. Learn classroom management, lesson planning, and Catholic pedagogy. Work with a professional mentor and receive ongoing feedback and career preparation.

Daily Mass and holy hour are central to training. Each semester includes retreats and spiritual direction. The Fellowship’s first goal is the sanctification of each Fellow.

Fellows live, pray, and share life together—often as roommates or neighbors. They form small groups, share meals, and enjoy outings that build lifelong friendships rooted in faith.
Over 100 Fellows have taught across subjects and grade levels.
Representing nearly 50 universities from public to Newman Guide colleges.
>90% live with another Fellow, creating spaces of joy, prayer, and mutual support

Kelly Burns, Cohort 4 (Boston)
"After three years as a FOCUS missionary, I felt called to evangelize earlier—within Catholic schools. The Fellowship offered mission, young adult community, and a place that values holiness above all. It’s a gift to serve Christ and help form future disciples."

Garret Morris, Cohort 3 (Boston)
"Five years ago, I never imagined teaching in Boston. I left engineering for education, drawn by faith and community. After prayerful discernment and encouragement from my spiritual director, I knew the Fellowship was where God was calling me."

During your 5 weeks of summer training, housing is covered completely by the Fellowship. After that, Fellows are responsible for finding/paying for their own housing. Roommate groups tend to form based on natural friendships and what makes geographical sense.
You are employed by your school, not the Fellowship. In other words, you will receive your official salary and benefits from the school that you are working at.
No. While both of those things can be helpful as you enter into the program, neither are required. Most of our fellows did not have formal teacher training/experience when they began the program. We provide training through our New Teacher Academy.
